The residents of Vida Asana are committed to improving both the lives and the environment of those around them. For the upcoming year we (are partnering with two fantastic local programs).Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Jaco, which was started by local resident Leonidas Ruaro, is our people- focused project. Our environment-focused project is Costas Verdes, a long running non-profit, committed to maintaining, and when required, reforesting the area beaches.
BJJ Jaco is a free program that provides two hours/day of expert Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training for area children as well as for dedicated adults. Through BJJ Jaco, children learn values like respect, equality, and discipline. As a result of Leo’s commitment and hard work, this program has received attention and guest instruction from around the world. We encourage you to take a class while you’re here, and be powerfully moved by the incredible children whose lives the program has impacted.
Costas Verdes is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of coastal ecosystems in Costa Rica. This is achieved through strategic re-afforestation of beaches using native species. The projects actively involve local communities and schools to generate environmental, social, and economic benefits. The organization has developed a comprehensive workflow, that encompasses all stages of trees from seed germination. Children, communities, and volunteers are the foundation of the work of Costas Verdes.
