Cultivating Joy Through Gratitude
January 13 - 19, 2019
If you enjoy the adventure of travel, and also want an experience that will nourish your body, mind and spirit, this retreat might be just the thing for you!
Joy is our spirits true nature. Giving yourself the time to slow down, to connect with others, to enjoy nature, and practice the many facets of yoga is a great way to bring yourself back to that naturally joyful state.
We are a team of three yoga teachers that have experienced the deep and mulit-faceted benefits of yoga and want to share them with you while we enjoy the Costa Rica experience together.
We are everyday people that know about stress, life challenges, and physical discomforts in the body, and have experienced how yoga can help!
Last year during our time in Costa Rica we saw 17 amazing, diverse souls really light up with the joy of the practice, the new connections, and the whole adventure. We hope you will be one of them this year!
We are all Kripalu yoga teachers, with many years of practice and in depth studies with an array of teachers from which to draw for our teachings.
Jaime, Garrett and Kathy will be leading you through yoga practices that help you to experience the qualities of gratitude, compassion, connection and joy.
As teachers, we will offer compassion, and encourage deep self-acceptance by providing modifications in the physical practice to honor all individual needs. We share the beliefs that yoga is about freedom and that the mat is your refuge.
Just a few thoughts on what we want to share with you…
“We can all come back to our true nature of joy by honoring and loving the uniqueness of ourselves. This practice is a gift not just to ourselves but to the whole world. By loving ourselves, we open to connect and share love with others.” ~Jaime
” Gratitude is the basis for waking up to joy, our true nature. There is a profound shift that happens inside when one puts gratitude at the center of their practice. This retreat will help students experience that shift in an environment where gratitude comes easy.” ~Garrett
“It is through our practice of pranayama (breath work), asana (physical practice) and meditation that we open, feel, watch and allow the compassion to access our being slowly. It then expands outwards to include all beings, starting within.” ~Kathy
We all love to travel, but the stress of travel can sometimes leave us feeling not so great at the end of a vacation, and needing to rest when coming home. At Vida Asana you will feel well cared for and able to rest and go home refreshed.
We also love food – good, healthy, nourishing food! Finding good food, when traveling can be a challenge and expensive.
Vida Asana, the small eco-resort that will be our host, takes all the stress out of travel and provides really good food, all in a beautiful environment.
The healthy food and amazing water, not to mention the to die for coffee and fresh fruit, will leave you feeling ready to truly enjoy the experience.
The ease of the whole experience will allow you to relax into your yoga practice without any concerns of making dinner, getting to work on time, sending that email….
If you are like us when at home, despite our commitment to the yoga practice and healthy eating there is all too often distractions or demands that pull us away.
I can’t wait to go back at Vida Asana, where the owners and staff give everyone an amazing experience that comes right from the heart! ~ Jaime
Whenever we have had the opportunity to immerse in a multi-day yoga experience we have all experienced coming away more joyful, more grateful, and ready to give back to those in our lives. This is what we hope to offer to every one that joins in this experience.
I went to this retreat last year. Loved it. The classes in the morning and evening were just what I needed. And lots of time to do my own thing throughout the day. Instructors were exceptional. Resort and food were great. I would highly recommend it.
I went last year and words cannot express how incredible the experience was for me. I highly recommend it and hope to go again in the future. The yoga was amazing – of course. The facility and people there are so cool. The countryside gorgeous and the day trips fantastic. Go if you can, you will love it!!!
Pennsylvania & Florida
I feel so privileged to have experienced this Yoga Retreat. Your detailed planning made it so easy and comfortable enough to brave this on my own. Being deaf plus shy is always a struggle especially in groups but everyone was so kind and considerate . Meeting and bonding with all these diverse friends was an extra bonus. Honestly, I can’t think of anything you could have done to improve this because everything was clearly communicated ahead of time due to your extensive planning.

Mid-day return flights will allow us all to travel back to the airport together after one last amazing breakfast together on January 19.
Interested in flying with others? Once we have our flights booked we will share them with everyone that is signed up or asks for more info.
Ten all-level yoga classes will be taught in the jungle yoga shala where props are available to support you, and the natural music of the jungle will accompany us. Five 30-minute early-morning pranayama and meditation practices will also be offered for those wanting to work more deeply with these powerful practices.
The yoga classes will offer you a diverse array of practices to support your journey on this retreat as all three teachers pull from what they have each learned on their journeys.
